The performance-inspired prototype combines aggressive styling, functionality and the sporty spirit of the 2025 Camry XSE Hybrid AWD.

Toyota surprised the audience when it introduced the Camry GT-S Concept model a At the 2025 SEMA Showat one of the world’s largest car events. Based on the 2025 Camry XSE AWD Hybrid, the concept is a design study that combines sporty styling, functional engineering and production capability.

Although a conceptual experiment, the GT-S has a realistic goal in mind: to create a sporty sedan ready to roll from the showroom to the customer’s garage. Unlike the extravagant projects often seen at SEMA, the model retains the 2.5-liter, 232-horsepower hybrid engine and interior of the stock Camry — so the focus is on exterior design, looks, and chassis upgrades.

“The Camry GT-S Concept is an exciting study with racetrack ambitions,” said Kevin Hunter, chief creative officer, Toyota North America. “Our goal was to envision the next evolution of the Camry XSE, with aggressive enhancements that reinforce its unique position among sports sedans.”

The project was led by the CALTY Design Research team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in collaboration with Toyota R&D. The result is a bolder appearance, a redesigned rear panel, a bumper integrated with a sports exhaust and new front and side aerodynamic elements that emphasize the model’s athletic profile. The final touch is given by the exclusive “Inferno Flare” paint, inspired by motorsport.

“We wanted to create something inspiring but accessible,” explained Adam Rabinowitz, CALTY’s lead designer. “The GT-S is a platform to test ideas and gather direct feedback from consumers about the future of Camry.”

In addition to the looks, the Camry GT-S Concept gets an adjustable coilover suspension that lowers the ride height by 1.5 inches, improves handling and gives it a more aggressive stance. The braking system has been developed with an eight-bearing caliper on the front axle and a six-pin rear caliper, with disc sizes of 365 mm and 356 mm. The 20-inch sports wheels with 245/35R20 tires complete the performance package.

“The Camry has always been a cornerstone of our product line,” emphasized Mike Tripp, Toyota Group vice president of marketing. “With the GT-S Concept, we show what’s possible when you combine the DNA of a sedan with a sporty attitude and personality. It’s a car that customers can really imagine driving.”

The Camry GT-S Concept will be on display November 4-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center at the Toyota booth (Central Hall – 22200) as part of the “Powered by Possibility” theme, which celebrates innovation in all types of powertrains — internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in, electric and fuel cell.
