The US government announced on Thursday that it will send immigration agents to the 2026 Super Bowl, in which Bad Bunny will be the main artist of the break. The decision was released by Corey Lewandowski, an advisor to the internal security department, in an interview with Podcast The Benny Johnson Show.
According to Lewandowski, the presence of agents seeks to oversee visitors and participants of the event, which attracts about 100 million viewers annually. “There is no safe place for irregular people in the country, neither in the Super Bowl nor any other event,” he said.
The announcement occurs after confirmation that the Singer Puerto Rican, winner of Multiple Grammy Awards, will lead the presentation. Bad Bunny is known for public criticism of Donald Trump’s policies and chose not to include the United States in his current world tour.
Lewandowski classified the artist’s choice as “shameful” and said he is “someone who seems to hate America.” Despite the statements, the advisor did not detail how the agents of the Immigration and Customs Service (Ice) will act in the stadium, merely stating that they will be “everywhere.”
Super Bowl is one of the most watched sporting events in the country, and the measure should generate national attention, mixing cultural and safety issues around the interval musical attraction.
