Four years later, Seth stands by his comments. “It was true!” he told Jimmy Kimmel. “They lied. They did lie. It said, ‘Outdoor event.’ And I had all intention of doing the dumb schtick that they had written for me, and then I showed up, and then I was like, ‘We’re in a tent. I can’t ignore this.'”
The Pineapple Express star continued, “They were outwardly pissed off at me afterwards, the producers.”
As for the truth behind Seth’s theory, Jimmy suggested he had gotten to the bottom of it.
“I checked today because I’ve hosted the Emmys quite a few times,” the late-night show host said, “and you are indeed banned from presenting.”
After chuckling, Seth responded, “I’ve been blacklisted.”
But he understands why that would be the case. “I went very off-book and made them look bad,” he added. “I get that.”
