The first flight to the prototype, denoted TR-301/117took place October 1, 2025 and lasted for about ten minutes, according to the Russian Telegram channel TAKE-OFF.

The manufacturer Technoregion Has for many years worked with modernization and remotorization of AN-2. In this new configuration, the plane uses a TV2-117-Motor, usually installed in MI-8T helicopters.

Remodeling and performance

To adjust the engine to the aircraft it was converted into a Single -axis Turbopropmotor. The free turbine was removed and the gearbox was connected directly to the compressor.

After the modification the effect was reduced from 1,500 to approximately 900 horsepower – A 40 %reduction. Still, TechNorgion believes that the new TR-301/117 will surpass the previous version with the Czech M601-engine (720 hp).

The basic model TR-301 Is a light version of AN-2, without lower wing and with reinforced pipe structures in the upper wing. according to Russia’s federal air transport agency Nine such aircraft have already received airborthiness certificate, while sixteen are officially registered.

Experimental history

Before the Technor region chose TV2-117, the company tested several alternative engines including the Czech M601the helicopter motor GTD-350the car engine Zmz-409 and up to and including diesel engines from Kamaz.

The company now sees the use of TV2-117 as the most promising solution to renew the AN-2 fleet-a aircraft that has been widely used in agricultural flights, regional transport and benefit assignments in Russia since the 1940s.
