Russia handed over a batch of military vehicles and equipment valued at around US$53 million to Uganda. The handover, which took place on October 26, was attended by Russian authorities and the Ugandan political and military leadership.
According to the Russian embassy in Kampala, the shipment includes IMR-1 engineering vehicles, based on Soviet T-55 tanks, GAZ-66 trucks with KUNG modules and even a vessel transported by trailer.

The images released by the embassy show that the equipment has Soviet origins and was adapted for use in engineering and logistical support operations. So far, Moscow has not clarified whether the delivery is part of a commercial contract or whether it represents a form of assistance to the Ugandan government within bilateral relations between the two countries.
The episode comes shortly after the arrest, in Kenya, of a Russian embassy employee accused of recruiting local fighters for the war in Ukraine.
