Rio de Janeiro councilors are now entitled to meal vouchers. The decision was published in the City Council Gazette on Thursday (16), but the contract with the company supplying the cards took place on September 26.
The value of the benefit will be R$1739.29. In other words, this represents around R$217.40 for each of the eight days on which the Rio Chamber sessions take place. In addition to public hearings, the chamber stated that councilors work on other legislative work.
The food voucher joins other benefits that Rio’s parliamentarians receive monthly, in addition to salaries of around R$18,100, such as fuel and vehicle maintenance assistance and rental of armored vehicles.
