Chancellor Mauro Vieira spoke to the press after the meeting between presidents Lula and Donald Trump, in Malaysia. For the diplomat, the outcome of the meeting was excellent and new meetings between the countries’ teams took place to continue the negotiations.
“Positive meeting, great final balance. President will give instructions for agreements, and today we will have a meeting with the Americans. Marco Rubio, Secretary Bessant were present, US commercial representatives were present too”, said Vieira.
Mauro Vieira also stated that President Lula renewed the request to suspend tariffs imposed on Brazilian exports during the negotiation period, as well as the application of the Magnitsky Law appeal. Mauro Vieira said that President Trump will instruct his team to begin bilateral negotiations with Brazil today.
“We hope in a short time now, in a few weeks, to conclude a bilateral negotiation that deals with each of the sectors currently subject to American taxation in Brazil”, stated the minister. “Everything must be resolved in a short time”, he added.
