According to Itamaraty sources, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, spoke with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, twice by telephone during the last week. The meeting between Lula and Pope Leo XIV was also coordinated with the Brazilian embassy in Italy at the Holy See.
