Jill Martin, Today Contributor, on Breast Cancer Journey

by Marcelo Moreira

Jill Martin isn’t taking one day for granted.

In the two years since the Today contributor shared her breast cancer diagnosis, she’s learned to just keep living.

“Life is precious,” Jill told E! News Oct. 1 during Pink Power Day on TODAY in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “Don’t take any day for granted. Choose what you want in your life and then say no to everything that isn’t that. Life is too short.”

Part of choosing what she wants in her life has also meant picking who she wants to do life with.

“I am surrounded by the most magical people and that is deliberate,” Jill—who divorced Erik Brooks in 2023 shortly after sharing her diagnosis—shared. “I’m going to enjoy every second.”

The lifestyle contributor revealed on the NBC morning show in July 2023 that due her mother and grandmother’s history with the disease, she underwent genetic testing—in addition to her regular mammogram—which led her to her stage 2 diagnosis.

And after undergoing a double mastectomy, reconstruction surgery, a hysterectomy, chemotherapy and radiation following her diagnosis, she is now cancer free.
