Published on X this Wednesday (8), the video displays the following text, superimposed on the images: “Woman declares support for an Islamist, and he tells her to remain silent.” The scene, created with artificial intelligence (AI), shows a woman in the foreground speaking (in English) directly to the camera, as if it were a selfie. “Good morning, I’m here in London, this is my new friend. I must say that I support your people here,” she says. Then, a man right behind interrupts and declares: “Women have to keep quiet.” The content went viral at a time when the United Kingdom has seen a wave of anti-immigration protests organized by the radical right. Protesters were seen shouting Islamophobic insults, throwing stones, looting stores and clashing with police in several cities. In September, an event brought together more than 100,000 people in London. In response, demonstrations in defense of immigrants and Muslims took to the streets of London. ⚠️ Why is this a lie? Fato ou Fake submitted the material to Deepware, a tool that identifies content created with deepfake (a technique that allows you to alter videos and photos). Three of the platform’s four analysis models indicated the presence of this feature. Fato ou Fake also used the Hiya platform, which identifies speech created or manipulated by AI. Result of the analysis, which verifies the “authenticity level” of the audio: score of 1 (on a scale ranging from 0 to 100). A low value like this indicates that the material evaluated has a high probability of being a deepfake.
