Less than a week after the ceasefire began, Israel is already threatening to resume attacks against the Gaza Strip. The country’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, made it clear that bombings could resume. The decision would even be taken “in coordination with the United States”. According to him, this would be the way to achieve all the objectives of the war if Hamas does not hand over all the bodies of the hostages.
The Israelis consider that the Palestinian group is violating the terms of the agreement. The United States, on the other hand, does not consider that disrespect for the truce is actually happening.
The Times of Israel newspaper said it had spoken to White House aides. High-ranking advisers to the American government cited the difficulties Hamas faced in finding bodies under the rubble. So far, nine bodies have been handed over. There are still 19 coffins left to be taken to Israel.
