The INSS CPMI rejected this Thursday (16) the summons request of José Ferreira da Silva, Frei Chico, brother of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and vice-president of the National Union of Retirees, Pensioners and Elderly People (Sidnapi). There were 19 votes against 11 in favor.
The request had been included on the agenda by the president of the commission, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), and was part of the block of testimonies aimed at investigating the actions of entities and associations in the scheme of undue discounts on social security benefits.
Viana had defended the call to clarify possible links between Sindnapi and the scheme under investigation. Some of the members of the panel, however, considered that there were sufficient elements to justify the testimony.
