The head of the Hamas Military Wing in Gaza, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, signaled to the mediators of the conflict that he does not agree with the plan of ceasefire in accordance with the US President Donald Trump.
According to the calculation of BBCreleased on Thursday (2), the terrorist group representative believes that the American proposal was created to destroy Hamas, regardless of whether or not the group accepts the document. Al-Haddad said the terrorists are “willing to continue fighting” against Israel.
Trump’s plan for the Gaza strip involves the disarmament of Hamas and its departure from the government, with no possibility of acting in a future management of the enclave. In addition, all hostages must be delivered to Israel within 72 hours of acceptance of the agreement.
Currently, there is difficulty in communication between the group’s political leadership in Qatar and within the enclave, which makes the situation even more critical.
According to BBCThis is because, while influential people linked to Hamas in Doha are tempted to accept Trump’s proposal, with some caveats, Gaza militiamen are really in control of hostages. The group has not yet officially spoken out about the proposal.
The US representative gave a period of “three to four days” for Hamas to have an answer. Israel agreed with the plan during a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House on Monday (29).
A group source informed the EFE Agency On Wednesday (1st) that Hamas is still immersed in “intense” consultations between factions in the Gaza Strip and those abroad, and the mediators, given the differences that exist in “various” points of the plan.
One of the terrorist group’s main concerns is the absence of guarantees that Trump’s plan is fully implemented by Israel and that the total removal of Palestinian enclave troops is fulfilled.
Since Monday, eight meetings have been held in Doha, in which mediators participated in Qatar and Egypt, with the presence of Turkey envoy, as well as members of Hamas, to respond to the proposal of 20 points of the president.
