Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of new combat aircraft and air defense missiles as part of the military buildup to Ukraine.
France will transfer additional Mirage 2000-5F fighters and Aster missiles to Ukraine in the coming days, as well as launch new training programs aimed at strengthening the Ukrainian armed forces.
The information was released by the newspaper Le Monde, based on French President Emmanuel Macron’s speech during a meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing”, a group of countries that militarily support Ukraine.
“We will deliver additional Aster missiles, new training programs and new Mirage aircraft in the coming days. It is very important to continue our efforts in support of Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia,” Macron said.

The first Mirage 2000-5F arrived in Ukraine in February 2025, marking the Ukrainian Air Force’s entry into a new stage of modernization. On March 7, one of these aircraft participated in its first combat mission, shooting down a Kh-101 cruise missile during a combined Russian missile and drone attack.
To date, three Mirage 2000 fighters have been officially delivered by France. However, one of them was lost at the end of July 2025 due to a technical malfunction, according to Le Monde. The pilot managed to eject safely and was rescued by search and rescue teams.
Although Paris has not revealed the total number of aircraft to be transferred, estimates indicate that Ukraine could receive between 12 and 20 Mirage 2000-5F units in the near future.
These aircraft, known for their agility and multi-purpose RDY radar, represent a significant boost to Ukraine’s air defense and interception capabilities, especially in the face of intensifying Russian attacks.
