Faraj al-Shamie, father of Jihad al-Shamie, the author of an attack on a synagogue in Manchester, the United Kingdom, had celebrated on social networks the terrorist group Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, The Telegraph said on Friday.
According to the British newspaper, Faraj is Syrian, migrated to the United Kingdom in the 1990s and settled in the Cruumball region, in northern Manchester, which has a large Jewish population.
He graduated in medicine in his home country and complemented studies in the UK to become trauma surgeon. According to Telegraph, today he works abroad.
On Hamas’s attacks, Faraj al-Shamie wrote on social networks that “the scenes transmitted by the brigades of al-aqsa martyrs [milícia palestina] From a group of combatants invading an occupancy army camp with simple means – balloons and motorcycles – they prove without a doubt that Israel will not continue to exist. ”
“May God protect Palestine and his heroic people. God bless you and may He bless you with true men from the lineage of true men,” the doctor added.
Three days later, in another post, Faraj criticized what he called the lack of support from Arab countries to Hamas.
“Where is this so -called resistance with haifle rockets [cidade israelense]? That God’s curse falls on hypocrites, traitors committed to a disgusting and filthy sectarian agenda – the moment of truth is inevitably coming, ”he wrote.
On Thursday (2), shortly after the attack perpetrated by his son, Faraj Al-Shamie issued a statement in which he said he was “deeply shocked” with the attack.
On Friday, Greater Manchester Police Chief Stephen Watson said one of two fatalist victims of the synagogue in Manchester was killed by police shots.
“The Pathologist of the Interior Ministry said he provisionally determined that one of the deceased victims seems to have suffered a consistent wound with a bullet wound,” he said.
Watson stated that “the suspect is believed to, Jihad al-Shamie, was not in possession of a firearm and that the only shots were fired by GMP police with authorized weapons as they tried to prevent the aggressor from entering the synagogue and causing more damage to the Jewish community.”
“Therefore, subject to more forensic tests, the injury [fatal] It may have occurred as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgent action taken by my police to prevent the violent attack, ”he explained.
Watson reported that one of the three hospitalized people in serious condition also has bullet injuries.
In the attack, Jihad ran over a car people who entered the synagogue and stabbed others (one of them fatally) during the festivities of Yom Kippur (forgiveness day). The attacker was killed by police.
