The cold front and the extratropical cyclone, formed this weekend, are expected to cause rain and intense winds over the southern region of Brazil until this Tuesday (14). The phenomenon caused gusts of wind of around 100 km/h in cities in Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Rainfall volumes have accumulated more than 60 mm since Saturday (11).
According to meteorologists, while the cold advances towards the southeast and central-west of the country, precipitation continues to be concentrated in Paraná, with heavy showers expected this Monday (13). In the capitals of the three states, the forecast is for moderate rain.
The extratropical cyclone continues along the coast of Uruguay, moving away from South America, but it should still cause wind gusts of around 70 km/h in the center and east of Rio Grande do Sul. In parts of the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, the wind should reach 90 km/h.
