The President of the United States, Donald Trump, spoke this Monday (13) in the Israeli Parliament, on the same date that the country and the extremist group Hamas carried out the exchange of hostages and prisoners of war. The republican praised the return of people who were in captivity in the Gaza Strip to their families, in addition to the bodies of the dead detainees who “will finally be able to rest” at home.
In his speech, Trump highlighted the 20-point ceasefire agreement agreed by the two sides last week marks not only the end of the war, but the beginning of an era of hope, faith and the beginning of harmony for Israel and all nations. He also stated that the moment represents the beginning of “a new Middle East”.
The American head of state thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, even asking the prime minister to stand up during the speech. Furthermore, Trump showed gratitude to the collective effort of all nations, especially the Arab world, for peace. The president highlighted that the moment will be remembered and that Israel “will experience a golden age”.
Despite praising the effort to end the conflict, Donald Trump placed the United States army as the “most powerful in the world”, in addition to highlighting the North American arsenal, stating that the country has weapons that “no one ever dreamed of having”. He cited that Netanyahu called many times requesting more weapons, which were used “very well” and brought peace to the region, according to the Republican.
Trump recalled the Hamas attack against southern Israel on October 7, comparing the event to the Holocaust. The president stated that the debris will be removed from the Gaza Strip and that the enclave will have a prosperous and bright future, in addition to confirming a large American investment in the region.
