The President of the United States, Donald Trump, admitted in an interview released this Friday (17) that the 130% tariffs against China “are not sustainable”. Along with this statement, the Republican stated that he will meet Xi Jinping in two weeks.
On the other hand, Trump blamed Beijing for the recent impasses in trade negotiations, which began with Chinese authorities tightening control over rare earth exports.
Last week, the North American revealed additional tariffs of 100% on exports from China, in addition to new export controls on “any and all critical software”. The measure is valid until November 1st, nine days before the tariff relief expires.
Trump’s new determinations made the world’s two biggest powers return to exchanging barbs and restricting the export of products. The head of the White House is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in two weeks. The meeting is scheduled to take place in South Korea.
