The owner of a damaged Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport has put his car up for auction after the brand refused to sell replacement parts for its repair.

It all began when influencer Alex Gonzalez crashed his Chiron into the back of a small pickup truck in Miami, United States.
The car, valued at $3.6 million, is one of only 60 units ever produced by Bugatti. Now, however, the Chiron is worth far less, as repairs are estimated to cost around $440,000.
According to YouTuber Matt Armstrongwho is known for rebuilding crashed supercars, just a pair of headlights alone would cost about $174,000. For that amount, one could buy another luxury sports car, such as a base model Porsche 911 Carrera.
The carbon fiber fenders would cost another $174,000 for the pair, while the outline of the iconic horseshoe-shaped grille would add an additional $93,000.
However, the situation changed due to a Bugatti policy stating that the car could only be repaired if it were shipped to France for restoration at the company’s own factory.
To make matters worse, the manufacturer blocked the sale of any structural or safety-related parts to independent workshops attempting to repair Gonzalez’s Chiron Pur Sport.
Because of these restrictions, the insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss, and it will now be auctioned off. While awaiting the sale, Gonzalez revealed that he is still making monthly loan payments of $70,000 for the Bugatti.
