The CPMI session investigating fraud against INSS retirees and pensioners was once again marked by confusion.
fraud against INSS retirees and pensioners was postponed until next Thursday (16) after new confusion occurred this Monday (13).
The commission heard the former president of the institute, Alessandro Stefanutto, who at the beginning of his testimony stated that he would not answer the rapporteur’s questions. After insistence from parliamentarians, he ended up agreeing to collaborate with the hearing.
The atmosphere became tense when Stefanutto was questioned about a report that highlighted possible irregularities in the management of the INSS. The former president reacted, calling the question “disrespectful” and claiming that the information mentioned was not proven by the investigation.
During his speech, Stefanutto explained that he was appointed in July 2023, after joining the Lula government transition team. According to him, the invitation came from the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi. The former president also stated that he left office not because of a political decision, but because of a court order.
