Through an announcement by president Emmanoel Schmidt Rondon, Correios announced a restructuring plan after billion-dollar losses. They are in negotiations with banks to obtain a loan of R$20 billion.
In 2024, R$2.9 billion of resources that were still available in cash and financial investments were used. The lack of resources this year caused delays in payments and transfers to those involved in the Correios revenue generation process.
Since April, the company’s partner carriers have been paralyzed or operating at a reduced pace, which has caused delays in delivery and shipping of orders.
Furthermore, at the beginning of the year, there were delays in the transfer of commissions from partner agencies and in payments to the employees’ health plan, resulting in the suspension of services in some hospital networks.
