The Ministry of Health confirmed 59 cases of methanol poisoning in different regions of the country. The number is part of the most recent balance released by the ministry, which also records 15 deaths related to the substance.
In total, 103 cases were reported, of which 44 are still under investigation. Another 662 suspects were discarded after laboratory analysis.
The state of São Paulo concentrates the majority of occurrences, with 46 confirmations and 7 cases under investigation. In addition to the territory of São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco and Mato Grosso also confirmed records of poisoning.
In total, eight states continue to report suspected cases. The deaths under investigation total nine.
