Data from the 2022 Demographic Census released this Thursday (9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) shows that the car is the main means of transport for Brazilians to go to work.
The survey indicates that 32% of respondents travel by car. The number represents 21.4 million people, while 21% (14 million) of citizens travel by bus. Subsequently, walking affects 18% of the population, that is: 11.9 million travel by foot.
Next come motorcycles, used by 16% of workers interviewed, around 10.8 million workers. Furthermore, two out of every three Brazilian workers take up to half an hour to get to work, according to survey data. For the first time, the Census investigated the main means of transport used on the journey to work.
