Australia has received a new batch of UH-60M Black Hawk-helicopters, which strengthens the country’s fleet of tactical transport aircraft.
According to the Australian Ministry of Defence, two new multi-role helicopters have been delivered to the country, designed to equip the aviation units of the land forces.
The helicopters arrived at the Royal Australian Air Force Base in Richmond, New South Wales aboard a US Air Force C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft.

With this delivery, the Australian Army now has 17 of the planned 40 UH-60M Black Hawks, which will gradually replace the fleet of MRH-90 Typhoon-helicopters that are considered obsolete. The replacement program is part of a comprehensive modernization plan for Australia’s military aviation, which runs until 2030.

The new helicopters improve troop mobility and provide greater capacity for rapid transport of personnel, equipment and rescue operations in combat zones.
According to the official announcement, “US-Australia defense cooperation remains one of the most important areas of development and strengthens mutual interoperability on the battlefield.”
