The new Fiocruz InfoGripe Bulletin, released this Thursday (9), issued an alert regarding the increase in cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SRAG) caused by the Influenza A virus in the state of São Paulo. The analysis covers the period from September 28th to October 4th and indicates the beginning of a worrying growth trend.
According to the researchers, the case of the state of São Paulo requires special attention because it is a state with great interconnection with other regions of the country. This characteristic can facilitate the spread of the virus nationally, increasing the risk of new outbreaks in different states.
Across Brazil, data shows that SARS records continue to rise in short and long-term trends. In the last two weeks, seven states presented alert, risk or high risk levels, with an increasing trend in the long term. They are: Amazonas, Goiás, Paraná, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima and Santa Catarina.
Another worrying fact brought by the bulletin is that, in 2025, the Influenza A virus will already account for more than half of SARS deaths with viral confirmation. Around 50.7% of deaths testing positive for a respiratory virus were associated with Influenza A, which reinforces the seriousness of the scenario.
Fiocruz continues to monitor indicators and reinforces the importance of vaccination and epidemiological surveillance as essential ways of containing the spread of the virus and reducing the impact on health services.
