Gisèle Pelicot case: Frenchman who drugged his wife for rape is convicted The court sentenced the only person accused of raping Gisèle Pelicot to 10 years in prison who appealed his initial sentence, during a trial held in France, a year more than the sentence he received in the first instance. “The court and jury sentence Husamettin Dogan to 10 years in prison,” announced Christian Pasta, president of the appeals court in Nimes, southern France, after almost three hours of deliberation. Dogan was the only one of the 51 men sentenced in December to appeal his sentence. The Prosecutor’s Office had asked for a 12-year sentence for participating in an act of “mass destruction” of Pelicot.
