A man opened fire on hundreds of faithful in a Mormon Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, leaving at least four dead and a still unknown number of injured on Sunday (29). Then he started a fire at the scene.
The shooter, who was using a robbery rifle, was shot and killed by two police officers, according to the American press. The man was identified by the authorities as a 40 -year -old American Navy veteran who served in Iraq.
He threw a pickup truck against the building and began shooting the faithful who were gathered in a service. Before being contained by the police, he set fire to the church.
The Marine Corps informed the Fox News that man served from 2004 to 2008 as automotive mechanic and vehicle recovery operator.
A police officer told the press at the scene that ten victims were taken to local hospitals after being shot. To date, four deaths have been confirmed, including two people found under the rubble of the burned church.
Authorities are still in search of nine other people deserted, according to the Fox News.
The Michigan attack occurred a day after the announcement of the death of Russel M. Nelson, leader of the Mormon Church, at the age of 101.
FBI leads investigation into the attack

Still in August, a man who killed 11 faithful and injured six others in an attack on a synagogue in Pittsburgh was sentenced to death for the crimes. This was considered the most deadly attack on Jews in the United States.
Shortly after learning of the crime, US Attorney General Pam Bondi said FBI agents were at the scene.
United States President Donald Trump also spoke out about the attack. “This seems to be another attack on Christians in the United States. Trump management will keep the audience informed, as we always do. Meanwhile, pray for the victims and their families. This epidemic of violence in our country needs to have an immediate end!”
