A video published this week shows in detail the new factory that is responsible for the series production of the main wagon Altay, one of the largest projects in the Turkey’s defense industry.
The images show the modern plant built by BMC in the specialized organized aviation and aerospace industry zone in Ankara (HAB), where industrial boots and automated systems are used from the production of the hull to the final mounting line.

The complex covers 555,000 m², with the possibility of further expansion of 150,000 m², and houses both BMC Defense, which is responsible for the production of the chariot, and the BMC Power, which is responsible for the development of the national BATU motor group.
According to the official schedule, the first deliveries of Altay-T1 start in 2025, with 3 units, and will reach a total of 85 tanks by 2028. The Altay-T2 version will be produced from 2028, with the delivery of an additional 165 vehicles.
Properties of the Altay wagon
Altay is the first main wagon of new generation developed fully in Turkey. It is designed to meet the requirements for modern warfare and combines superior firewood, advanced armor and high mobility in various operational scenarios.
In the T1 version, the existing systems have received significant optimizations, while the future T2 will integrate further innovations and technological improvements.
Currently, the Turkish armed forces operate foreign models such as Leopard 2A4, Leopard 1, M60TM, M60A3 and M48A5T2, produced in the United States and Germany. Among these, Leopard 2A4 and M60TM are considered the most modern in service.
