Iraq is the first Arab army that independently implements Russian experiences from the Ukrainian secretary when using additional armor on tanks.

The aim is to increase protection against FPV drones and tank defense weapons that are increasingly occurring on the modern battlefield.

According to current reports, the Iraqi T-90S/IQ tanks were equipped with so-called Cope Cages-metal structures that are mounted on the tower, similar to those used by Russian armed forces. These lattice structures are intended to reduce the effects of Kamikaze drones, explosive threads dropped from above.

The improvements were implemented by the 5th armored battalion of the 35th armored brigade, which is already actively in use with the T-90S/IQ. Current pictures show the vehicles fully equipped, with reactive armor on the sides and lattice -shaped tower armor to defend the growing threat from drones.

Military experts believe that these modifications could make a difference in future combat scenarios and that an important step in the adaptation of the Iraqi armed forces to the new realities of modern warfare.
