United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that US military personnel are allowed to slaughter military aircraft if commanders find it necessary in the current operation with war ships in the southern Caribbean Sea.
Trump’s statement was made one day after the US Department of Defense reported that two Venezuela military aircraft flew near one of the American Navy ships that are in international waters in the Caribbean, the action that the Pentagon called “highly provocative maneuver.”
At a news conference at the White House Oval Hall, the US president commented on the matter. “ [aeronaves militares da Venezuela] Put us in a dangerous position will be slaughtered, ”he said, according to information from Reuters.
The United States have sent eight war ships and a nuclear submarine to the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela, with the aim of avoiding drugs to the US territory.
On Tuesday (2), Trump announced that a boat with drugs was hit by American military in the Caribbean Sea. He said the load was from the Venezuelan gang Tren from Aragua and 11 people on board were killed.
On Friday, Reuters reported that the US government ordered the sending of ten F-35 fighters to an aerodrome in Puerto Rico for operations against drug cartels in the Caribbean.
At the White House press conference, Trump justified his new approach to drug trafficking, citing people who die from overdose in the United States.
“Imagine if you are in a war and lose 300 thousand [pessoas]. We won’t allow this to happen, ”he said.
The Chavista regime claims that the American military operation in southern Caribbean is an “excuse” for an intervention in Venezuela, but Trump said his government has not discussed a regime change in the South American country.
“We are not talking about it, but we are talking about the fact that there was a very strange election, to say the least,” said Trump, citing the 2024 electoral fraud that kept dictator Nicolás Maduro in power.
