Türkiye, Altınova, Yalova’daki Sefine Shipyard in the country’s national shipbuilding program, the eighth ship of Milgem Project officially launched.
The new frigate, called TCG İçel, represents an important turning point in Türkiye’s technological independence strategy and expansion of maritime power.
The frigate with 113 meters long and has an displacement of approximately 3,200 tons; The submarine was designed to fulfill a large number of functions such as the war of defense, supine battle, air defense, electronic warfare and search and rescue tasks.
The ship was equipped with systems developed by the domestic defense industry, among them:
- 76 mm wife Topu;
- Gökdeniz Air Defense System;
- Midlas vertical beat system;
- Atmaca Gemisavar missile;
- Cenk 3D radar;

- Advent War Management System.
Domestic production and integration
Speaking at the ceremony President of the Defense Industry Professor. Dr. Haluk Görgün drew attention to the importance of the program:

According to Görgün, TCG İçel contains up to 80 %domestic components, as a result of the cooperation of more than 200 institutions and companies in the sector.

Görgün also tied to the launch of the “blue homeland” doctrine reflecting the maritime power of Türkiye in different regions:

Continuity of the project
MİLGEM program under the coordination of the Defense Industry Presidency; It envisages the construction of a various fleet of frigates, corvettes and future resuces. The construction of the seven frigates is currently continuing and two of them are in the Shipyard.
With the launch of TCG İçel, Türkiye reinforces its place among the countries that build the most military ships at the same time and also increases its export capacity to friendly and allied countries.
