With 113 meters of length and a displacement of approximately 3,200 tons, the frigate was designed to perform multiple functions: anti -submarine war, surface combat, air defense, electronic warfare and search and rescue missions.
The ship is equipped with systems developed by the national industry, including:
- 76 mm naval cannon;
- Sistera de Defensa Aérea Gökdeniz;
- Midlas vertical launch system;
- Misil antibuque atmaca;
- Cenk three -dimensional radar;
- Electro-optical tracking system;
- Advent Combat Management System.
National Production and Integration
During the ceremony, the president of the Turkey Defense Industries, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, highlighted the relevance of the program:
“The Mi̇lgem is not just a ship construction project. It is a symbol of Turkey’s will to stay self -sufficient in the defense industry, with a high engineering capacity and a vision of national production.”
According to Görgün, the İçel TCG has up to 80% of local components, the result of the cooperation of more than 200 institutions and companies in the sector.
Strategic context
The leader also linked the launch with the doctrine of the “Blue Homeland” (Mavi Vatan), which projects Turkish maritime power in different regions:
“Every new ship we launched not only reinforces our security, but also declares our engineering capacity to the world and our strategic determination in the seas.”
Project continuity
Under the coordination of the presidency of the Defense Industries, the Mi̇LGEM program foresees the construction of a diversified fleet of frigates, corvettes and future destroyers. Currently, seven frigates are under construction, two of them in the Sefine shipyard itself.
With the launch of the İçel TCG, Türkiye consolidates its position among the countries that most build military ships simultaneously, in addition to expanding their export capacity to partner and allied nations.
