The President of the United States, Donald Trump, commented for the first time the court decision of the US Appeals Court that considered the tariffs imposed on foreign imports illegal. The government is expected to file a appeal to the Supreme Court on Wednesday (03) to try to reverse the opinion.

“The United States will have serious problems without tariffs. Without them, we will be a third world country,” the Republican said during a statement at the White House. Trump said he intends to ask for an “accelerated decision” to the judiciary given the “urgency of the matter.”

According to the US president, the financial market needs actions to move the economy. He repeated the mistaken information that the stock rates were decreased on Tuesday (02) due to the fear of the definitive illegality of the tariffs. However, caution was marked by the high income in the world’s leading economies.

Donald Trump also mentioned that he would have to “return the rates” if the appeal that will be filed in the Supreme Court is denied. Despite the judicial obstacle, the leader was optimistic about the process and stressed that most judges are liberal and that the US are raising trillion dollars.
