Undersecretary of United States Public Diplomacy, Darren Beattie, commented on September 7 in a publication made on his profile on social network X. “Yesterday marked the 203rd day of Independence of Brazil. It was a reminder of our commitment to support the Brazilian people who seek to preserve the values of freedom and justice,” he wrote.
Beattie also left a message warning the Supreme Court Minister (STF) Alexandre de Moraes. “For the minister and individuals whose abuses of authority have undermined these fundamental freedoms – we will continue to take appropriate action,” he said.
Within the US State Department, the Undersecretary is responsible for coordinating efforts to expand and strengthen relations between the US and the citizens of other countries.
In late July, the United States government ordered the application of the magnitsky law against Moraes, accused by US officials of “hunting illegal witches” and threatening “the interests and freedoms of the US and its citizens”.
According to the community issued by the US Treasury Department, all the minister’s assets and interests who “are in the United States or in possession or control of US citizens” are blocked and must be reported to the foreign asset office.
