United States President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that US military reached a boat carrying drugs from Venezuela.
“We literally destroyed a boat, a boat that carried drugs, lots of drugs. And you will see and read about it. It happened a few moments ago,” Trump told a press conference at the White House Oval Hall, according to EFE.
“We have long received a lot of drugs entering our country, coming from Venezuela. They are leaving Venezuela in large quantities. A lot is leaving Venezuela, so we eliminate [o barco]”He added.
Minutes later, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio talked about it at X.
“As the president recently announced, today, US military man carried out a lethal attack in the southern Caribbean against a drug boat that had departed from Venezuela and was being operated by a designated narcoterrorist organization,” Rubio wrote. The Secretary of State and Trump no longer gave more information about the case for now.
This is the first American attack on a southern Caribbean vessel since the United States have sent eight war ships and a nuclear submarine to the nearby waters of Venezuela, with the aim of preventing drugs to arrive in the US territory.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in August that the United States is prepared to “use all US power” to bring “those responsible” to drugs to the country, in a direct message to the Venezuelan dictator, Nicolás Maduro, pointed out by Washington as leader of the Los Soles cartel.
The Chavista regime claims that American operation is an “excuse” for military intervention in Venezuela.
