The New BMW iX3 Debuts Today: Watch the Livestream

by Marcelo Moreira

BMW has been making electric cars for a few years now, but it’s about to pull the wraps off the most important yet. Making its debut at the Munich Motor Show (IAA), the 2026 BMW iX3 is the first to ride on the company’s Neue Klasse platform for dedicated EVs. It promises Tesla-beating efficiency, charging speeds as fast as any EV in the US, and a new approach to integrating all the vehicle’s dynamic systems.

In fewer words, it promises great things.

The iX3 will be the first of many Neue Klasse EVs, with an electric version of the 3 Series sedan to follow. BMW is betting the farm on this platform, pushing hard into electric cars as other automakers scale back their EV ambitions.

Our colleagues at InsideEVs drove a prototype of an iX3 and came away very impressedespecially with its targeted 400-mile range and 400-kilowatt charging capability. So our expectations are very high. Made even higher by the fact that the “Neue Klasse” name is a revival for BMW. The original New class sedans, including the mighty 2002, helped make BMW what it is today, and evolved into the 3 Series, the marque’s defining car.

So, sit back and enjoy the reveal, and check back for more on the iX3 later today.
