The Federal Supreme Court (STF) begins on Tuesday (2) the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants accused of attempted coup. The process, which is part of the 2,668 criminal action, mobilizes a special security scheme in Brasilia, with reinforced surveillance until September 12.
The operation is coordinated by the Federal District Public Security Bureau (SSP-DF) in partnership with the Court’s Judicial Police. The plan provides for the use of drones with thermal cameras, sniffer dogs on daily court inspections and permanent scanning in the Three Powers Square. Grades were installed in the surroundings, and agents will remain in the building throughout the period, including the September 7 holiday.
The residences of the ministers will also have daily surveys, in addition to the weekly checks already adopted. According to SSP-DF, demonstrations and camps near the court are prohibited.
Already this Monday (1), the Military Police positioned about 30 extra agents with vehicles against the STF to ensure night monitoring. The Secretariat also activated the Integrated Intelligence Intelligence Cell at its headquarters. The Center brings together local and national agencies to track social networks, share information and identify suspicious movements in real time.
The scheme also includes measures for the September 7 parade. The Esplanade of Ministries will be banned from 5 pm on Saturday (6). On Sunday, public access will start at 6am, with mandatory magazines. Cutting objects, weapons, large backpacks, fireworks and unauthorized drones will be prohibited.
