The Spanish government authorized the acquisition of up to 45 Hürjet Turkish coach jets, marking the first international export of the aircraft. The units will be produced in Türkiye and will undergo adaptation with Spanish subsystems and components at Airbus facilities in Spain.
Deliveries should start in 2028, with a service scheduled for 2031, and will integrate the Integrated Flight Training (ITS-C) advanced Air Force and Spanish (SASF).

The project is part of a broader defense plan, budgeted at US $ 4.31 billion, which includes the acquisition of 168 other aircraft and helicopters, as well as investments in soil simulation systems.
The Hürjet, equipped with a F404-GE-102 engine and capable of reaching Mach 1,2, will have training and light combat functions, offering a new training pattern for Spanish pilots. The Spanish configuration will be gradually integrated, ensuring technological autonomy and strengthening of the national industry.
Spain has already evaluated Hürjet prototypes in 2024 and formalized the choice of jet as a substitute for F-5M. Spanish companies such as Airtific, Aernnova, GMV, Indra, ITP Aero and Sener participate in the manufacture of components and project adaptation. The aircraft will be allocated to wing 23 at Talavera La Real Air Base, forming the leading training unit of the Hunting and Attack School, with expectation of operation for at least 30 years.
