The Secretary of the State Department justified the measures against the minister’s wife and an institute associated with his family based on decisions considered illegal by the Government of Donald Trump.
“These sanctions add to a series of actions taken by the Trump government to blame Moraes for abuse of authority, creation of a censorship complex, blatant attack on political opponents and serious human rights violations,” the American authority continued.
Rubio also warned possible allies of Moraes that “those who protect and allow malignant foreign actors such as Moraes to be responsible.”
Earlier, in a statement, the Treasury Department said the White House’s intention to sanction the STF minister’s family is to reach the Moraes support network.
