Republican deputy Maria Elvira Salazar, from Florida, published on Wednesday (3) a message directed to Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court (STF).
In her official X account, the parliamentarian told the minister to look around to understand that the “hemisphere is rejecting socialism and tyranny.”
“We are more united than ever. It’s time for you to fall on you [Moraes]. Stop the political persecution against your opponent [Bolsonaro]. The Brazilian people, not you, not corrupt elites, must decide who leads Brazil. Anything else is dictatorship, ”wrote the congressman.
Salazar is one of the most active voices in the United States Congress to denounce Moraes’ actions. The publication occurs amid the trial of the First Class of the Supreme Court on Criminal Action 2668, which investigates the alleged attempted coup d’état involving former President Jair Bolsonaro and other allies, pointed out as members of the “core 1” of the complaint.
On Tuesday (2), President Donald Trump’s campaign strategist Jason Miller had also spoken out against Moraes. He shared a Metrópoles report on the minister’s statements and said that “the United States does not negotiate with terrorists
Miller’s comment referred to a speech by Moraes, in which the minister stated that “national sovereignty is one of the foundations of the Federative Republic of Brazil […] It cannot, should not and will never be vilified, negotiated or extorted. ”
