Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) authorized Daniel Soares do Nascimento, sentenced to 16 years in prison for participation in the acts of January 8, to attend the funeral and burial of his mother.
Moraes determined that the prisoner was accompanied by police escort during the ceremony held in Embu-Guaçu, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. Daniel’s mother died last Friday.
The request came a few days after the minister denying a previous request of lawyers who asked for provisional freedom or house arrest so that Birth could follow the last days of the mother’s life.
He is fulfilled in a closed sentence at the Limeira Resocialization Center, São Paulo, since August 2, when Moraes determined the beginning of the execution of the sentence. To enable his participation in the funeral ceremonies, the minister authorized the escort for the time necessary for the wake and the burial.
