Venezuelan opposing leader María Corina Machado said on Tuesday (2) that the regime of Nicolás Maduro “is with the days numbered.”
The statement occurred a few hours after the United States confirmed an attack on a vessel linked to drug trafficking in international waters near Venezuela.
During a forum held in Panama City, Machado said the international siege against Chavista dictatorship is intensifying in the face of Washington’s political and military pressure.
“Each passing day the siege is closing that the West Democrats imposed on the narcoterrorist cartel that still follows in Miraflores [sede do Poder Executivo venezuelano]”He said.
Tuesday’s attack, according to the US Department of Defense, left 11 dead that were classified as narcoterrorists. The targets were members of the Aragua Tren criminal group, classified as a terrorist organization by Washington. President Donald Trump confirmed that the operation carried out in Caribbean Águas Caribbean was part of the fight against the drug trafficking that his government is crashing and held the dictator Maduro for the criminal networks operating in the region.
“Our administration will not allow the Venezuelan dictatorship to threaten the stability of the hemisphere,” the Republican said.
Machado, who remains hidden within the Venezuelan territory, stressed that the country’s opposition is prepared for a democratic political transition.
“As much as they try to threaten us, we know that the days of this criminal organization are numbered,” he said. She also called on the opponents in exile and within the country to strengthen the mobilization.
