President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) participates on Monday (8) in a virtual meeting with BRICS leaders. The meeting organized by Brazil, which is in the presidency of the bloc, was scheduled for 9 am (Brasília time).
The meeting aims to discuss different matters related to multilateralism and mark a position on Donald Trump’s government tariffs, especially the need for renovations in the World Trade Organization (WTO). In addition, the unfolding of conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip should also be the agenda among countries.
Lula also intends to reinforce the invitation for BRICS member countries to engage in the United Nations Conference on 2025 Climate Change (COP30), which takes place from November 10 to 21, in Belém, Pará.
The leaders gather two months after the summit that took place in Rio de Janeiro, between July 6 and 7. At the time, President Donald Trump criticized the block’s economic claims.
