“Israel must finish the work,” says Netanyahu about operations in the Gaza Strip

by Marcelo Moreira

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the United Nations General Assembly (UN) on Friday (26). Several people left the plenary before the start of speech, including the Brazilian delegation.

Netanyahu again cited Iran’s nuclear program, stating that the country’s investment in ballistic weapons development would aim to “destroy” Israel and threaten other nations.

The prime minister remembered the attack that took place in October 2023, naming the episode as “savagery” and pointed out that Israeli forces continue the offensive against Hamas, destroying war resources in Syria and Iraq.

Netanyahu also revealed that he intends to continue operations against Iran, saying that it is necessary to “keep vigilant” so that the country does not rebuild the damaged structures during the attacks that lasted 12 days. About the United States, he thanked President Donald Trump for his support, proposing that sanctions to Iran return.

Hostage

In addressing the issue of hostages, the prime minister presented that a significant number of people have been rescued, but there are still some awaiting help. He separated a moment of speech to address these people directly.

“Our brave heroes, this is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talking straight from the United Nations. We don’t forget about you. The people of Israel are with you. Let’s not rest until you take you all back home.”

Ceasefire

Given the possibility of approaching a ceasefire agreement, Netanyahu has again said that “Hamas agree with the demands, the war may end now.”

Regarding the support of the international community, the prime minister said that the world is also related to what happens in the Gaza Strip and that their “enemy” is also the “enemy” of the rest of the states.

Message to Leaders

Netanyahu concluded by stating that Israel is doing a kind of “dirty work” to other countries by attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities, making a cut to how Trump “understands that more than anyone.”

He made a relationship, saying that if the current scenario of the Gaza Strip had unfolded in the United States, there would be no forgiveness from the country and that the authorities would mobilize to “end the regime.”

“Countries have recognized Palestine as a state after all Hamas did in Isarel – close to 90% of the Palestinian population supported Hamas’s attack – they celebrated – parties – leaders are rewarding Jewish murders – I have a message for the Israelis: you did something very wrong.”
