India has given new indications that it will not give in to pressure from the United States after being the target of 50%tariffs. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on Monday (1) with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Chinese town of Tianjin during an OCS dome, a national security block in which the two countries are part.
During the event, the prime minister assured that the relationship with Moscow will continue even in “difficult times.” The summit also brought together representatives from more than 20 countries, including Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who presented his view to a new economic and security order that prioritizes the “global south.”
In a direct challenge to US President Donald Trump, Xi criticized Trump’s tariff policies.
“We must continue to take a clear position against hegemonism and the policy of power, and practice true multilateralism. Global governance has reached a new crossroads,” the Chinese leader said.
The alliance between India and Russia was the main reason that led the White House chief to sanction the government of Nova Dheli. The Indian Prime Minister stressed that at the meeting with Vladimir Putin that the partnership is “Pilar Vital” for both countries and for global stability. The Russian leader answered, calling Modi a “dear friend”, and highlighting relations with India as “special”.
In addition to the bilateral meeting between the Indian and the Russian focused on expanding trade between the two countries, Putin’s friendly meeting with Xi Jinping has made experts point out that the two heads of state actually plan to convey the image of a narrow bond as leaders of the new global order cited by Xi Jinping.
