The terrorist group Hamas celebrated on Friday (26) the fact that dozens of delegates, including those of Brazil, left the UN General Assembly Hall in New York before the speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The boycott of his speech by most international delegations reflects the growing isolation that has surrounded Netanyahu and its illegal entity,” Hamas said in a statement, using a term to indicate Israel’s non -recognition by the terrorist group.
The extremists stated that the action also highlights the “growing global solidarity with the law of the Palestinian people to self -determination and the creation of their independent state.”
“The establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital, is an inalienable right that will not be undermined by the occupant’s crimes or by its fascist policies,” Hamas said.
In his speech, Netanyahu criticized the ten countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Canada, which earlier this week recognized the Palestinian state, which raised to 157 of the 193 United Nations states the number of nations that manifest this position.
“It is like giving al-Qaeda a state to 1.6 km from New York after 11 September,” he compared, reaffirming his (and United States) argument that such recognition is a reward to Hamas after October 7, 2023 attacks.
The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, told JNS that the boycott was an action fostered by the Palestinian authority to “the cameras capture a misleading and staged image of a mass exit.”
“After a week full of unfounded accusations and incitements against Israel, Palestinian representatives in the United Nations are once again resorting to the theater,” said Danon. “These are not acts of diplomacy, but cheap staging designed to divert attention from the truth.”
