In an interview with a podcast, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad stated that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be a candidate for reelection in 2026.
During the conversation, the interviewers asked if Haddad could be the name of the left in case of Lula not to compete, similar to that of 2018. The minister replied that Lula is, in fact, the candidate for the next election.
Asked about an eventual candidacy in 2030, Haddad stated that it is still early to discuss the issue, noting that candidates “are not just one person project”. Lula, in turn, has already stated in previous interviews that he intends to compete again and will only give up if his health does not allow.
