About 30 Western leaders gather on Thursday (4) with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about Kiev security guarantees in the event of a Peace Agreement with Russia to persuade the United States to support efforts.
The summit in Paris of the “Coalition of the Holdings” has the participation of representatives from Europe, Australia, Japan and Canada. Some neighboring countries will participate for video conferencing.
Members of the coalition, which has not yet included the US, have been talking for months at various levels to define its possible military support to Ukraine to prevent Russia from attacking it again if and when there is a final truce-a perspective seen as remote.
Governments claim that any European military role would need US security as “support.” President Donald Trump has not explicitly committed to providing guarantees.
