Ethics Council starts counting deadline against Eduardo Bolsonaro

by Marcelo Moreira

It starts counting this Monday (29), the 10 days period for the rapporteur of the request for revocation of Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro to present a work plan.

Delegate rapporteur Marcelo Freitas (União-MG) may present a preliminary opinion, for the admissibility or filing of the representation. The preliminary opinion should be voted by the Ethics Council within two months.

If the decision is by filing, an appeal will still be made to the plenary. If it is for admissibility, Eduardo Bolsonaro will be notified to present written defense in another 10 business days from the notification. Notification may be by email or video conferencing.

Delegate Marcelo Freitas was chosen from a triple list, defined in a draw, which also included deputies Duda Salabert and Paulo Lemos. According to the rules of the Ethics Council, the rapporteur cannot be from the same party or state as the prosecution.

The PL deputy is accused by the PT of influencing US officials to impose sanctions against members of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) involved in the conviction of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, by coup and other crimes.
