Donald Trump announced 100% rates on foreign films in the United States

United States President Donald Trump announced on Monday 100% tariffs on all films produced outside the American ground.

“Our movie business has been stolen from the United States of America by other countries, as they were stealing ‘sweet of a baby,” Trump wrote in a post on the Truth Social network. “I will be imposing a 100% rate on all films made outside the United States,” the Republican added.

The White House chief took the opportunity to pin California Governor Gavin Newson, mentioning that the state, with his weak and incompetent governor, was especially affected in something that the United States press has classified as a “direct confrontation.”

In May, Trump had already threatened to impose rates on foreign films and US works shown outside the US. As at the time, he provided few details and did not specify when the taxation will come into force.

In addition, the vague definition of “foreign films” generated confusion in the industry, as the president would be aiming at Hollywood films that seek footage outside the United States. The proposal would be to increase the demand for tax incentives.
